Kansas City Star Endorses the effort to End the Wait for Kansans with Developmental Disabilities

Erase the stain. Year after year, Kansas leaders have put the needs of the state’s disabled citizens at the back of the line. More than 4,000 families are on waiting lists for essential services, and officials have warned that any more cuts would mean fewer services for developmentally disabled citizens who are currently receiving them. The state must stop turning its back on people who need help with living productive lives, or staying in their homes and with their families. This year, leaders should put the needs of disabled citizens at the front of the line.
